Football Uniform Cleaning Tips

With the football season finally upon us, here are a few ways to clean off that favorite jersey of yours at home and keep it looking great for years to come.

First, start pre-treating any stains on the jersey with a commercially available or homemade solution. Next, turn your jersey inside-out, so that you protect the lettering, numbers, and emblems from damage. Be sure to wash the jersey by itself and place the washer on the delicate setting with cold water. This way, you don’t run the risk of the heat peeling off the iron pressed elements. Also, refrain from the use of fabric softener as the compounds are generally too abrasive for the jersey and certainly DO NOT use bleach. This will strip your jersey of its color and ruin it!

After the washing cycle has completed, promptly take the jersey out of the washer and hang it up to air dry. It isn’t good for the jersey to remain crumpled while damp, as it could potentially damage the decals. Jerseys are constructed of materials that are designed to be sweat in so they will dry quickly. However, if you are in a time crunch and need your jersey dried fast, lay it on top of the dryer to speed up the process.

Have fun this season and don’t forget to keep your fan gear and your attitude CLEAN when you’re cheering on your favorite team!
