Clean The Uniform Company Receives ISO 14001 Certification
ST. LOUIS, MO -- February 2, 2010 -- Clean The Uniform Company announces the firm has received ISO 14001 certification at their corporate office in St. Louis, MO from Preferred Registrar Group, Inc (PRG), who is accreditation by the ANAB in the USA to perform management systems audits. This special designation is awarded only to those companies who have demonstrated sound environmental management practices, work proactively to minimize harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities, and achieve continual improvement in its environmental performance.
The ISO: 14001 certification involved an eight-month process and required a five-day audit. The PRG auditor visited CLEAN’S plant in Downtown St. Louis. The team analyzed the company’s framework, strategies and environmental approach. It included studying such items as reductions in the cost of waste management, savings in consumption of energy and materials, lowering distribution costs, and the company’s overall system for continual environmental improvement.
“CLEAN has put together a great environmental management system which includes a strong emphasis on recycling,” said Dave Reale, Special Projects representative for Clean The Uniform Company. “We recycle what we used to throw away such as clothing, towels, metal products and other items. The results have been dramatic.”
Reale said the company has been able to reduce trash pickup, from three times to just once per week, while increasing recycling from one to three times per week. The overall result is a savings in waste management alone of over $31,000. Reale said he plans to help CLEAN’s four other plant facilities receive ISO: 14001 certification in the near future.
“Our system is setting the standard in the uniform industry and we look forward to becoming a true Green company in every aspect of our operation,” he said.
